2010 January 26

Hey guys!

It’s that time again this year for the fabulous, discount bonanza at the Le Garage Sale! The below flyer should give you all the details about it but you can also check out their site at www.legaragesale.net for more info.

It should be really great this year, there are plenty of stores to shop at for all your favorite brands so if you live in Austin and you want some bargains from your favorite stores don’t miss out! We’re bringing some great items that you’ll drool over and will have some special discounts on BRAND NEW merchandise that have hit our stores as well! Le Garage participants will be the first to see it and from our experience last time around, you need to get your hands on it quick or it goes fast. And I mean FAST.

There will be great fashion finds, music, coffee and food so come and why not enjoy yourself for a few hours?

Not all vendors take credit cards but we will (amex, visa, mastercard and discover) and of course we always take cash too!

Don’t miss out and most importantly, don’t miss us!

See you soon! Can’t wait to see you all again. :)

Meet and Greet!

2010 January 21

We have some fresh new faces here at BD and we are so excited to introduce them to you. We are very happy to have Kristen, Michael and Abby as part of our team here.

We thought it would be fun to do a short Q&A session with each of them. So here they are!

First, here’s Kristen:

BD: What is your favorite color/shade?
Kristen: Neutrals, especially grey

BD: Who is your favorite designer/house?
Kristen: Christophe Decarnin, Balmain

BD: Why are you interning at BuyDefinition.com?
Kristen: I saw it in Austin Monthly and thought it was awesome, so I applied for the position!

BD: What is your favorite item in your wardrobe?
Kristen: A simple black, strapless dress…lbd

BD: What style do you dislike the most?
Kristen: Hippie chic?? I don’t really dislike any styles completely.

BD: Do you have a favorite collection/fashion show?
Kristen: Balmain spring 2010, anything Zac Posen

BD: If you could date any celebrity who would it be? Why? Kristen: Chase Crawford is pretty hot!!

Meet Michael:

BD: How would you describe yourself in just a few words:s

I love to laugh.

BD: Where are you from, and where have you always dreamed of living?

My father was in the Army since before I was born so I’ve moved around a lot, but I lived in Heidelberg, Germany for the longest. My parents currently live in San Antonio so I guess that’s where I call home these days. Tokyo, Japan has always been a city that has fascinated me. I think I could definitely live there.

What is your favorite item of clothing you currently own?

My favorite item is probably a heather grey B.Son hoodie I got for Christmas last year. It has a collar that can be buttoned up or down, and it can be draped to create a bunch of different silhouettes… it’s pretty amazing.

BD: If you could experience a day in the life of any person, living or dead, who would it be?

As trivial as it may sound, I think I would live in the life of an in-demand, high fashion model. The chance to experience the best clothing that the most creative minds have to offer would be just too good an opportunity to pass up.

BD: What are some of your favorite books, movies, and bands/artists?

The Beautiful Fall by ALicia Drake, Party Girl, The Shins

BD: What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?

Menudo. Ew.

BD: Who would you have star as you in the film of your life?

Ellen Degeneres. She’d be really convincing, but she might have to tone down the butch-ness.

And… last but not least, here’s Abby:

BD: What would be the hardest thing for you to give up?

Abby: My clothes – I’m really attached to everything in my wardrobe! It’s like pulling teeth to get me to get rid of anything.

BD: What’s your favorite reality tv show?

Abby: Project Runway – it’s a lot like the creative advertising program I’m in at UT, so I can relate to all the contestants and the scary elimination process they have to go through. Plus I love watching the runway show and listening to Michael Kors’ funny critiques…”That crotch is outrageous!” LOL.

BD: Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying?

Abby: I can be a little germaphobic, so hopefully I would have one of those CPR masks handy! Now I feel like I need to be carrying one of those around…

BD: If you could date anyone famous, who would you date?

Abby: Paul Rudd for sure. He is so funny and adorable – plus he’s Jewish so my grandma won’t be mad :-p

BD: Weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Abby: When I was little, either my dad or my sister convinced me that putting chocolate and peanut butter on mushrooms would be delicious…turns out it wasn’t!

BD: You wouldn’t be caught dead, where?

Abby: Probably Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch. Everything is loud and dark and pretty generic. I think fashion is supposed to be a lot artier than that and more of a representation of yourself. (P.S. I love Nanette Lepore and Free People!)

BD: Which bad habits of other people drive you crazy?

Abby: When guys spit while they’re just walking along the sidewalk. It’s not a baseball field, people!
Well, welcome guys!!! I’ll be posting more about these wonderful folks soon!

xoxo,

Esti

2010 January 10

We are working on a fun campaign here at BD (will tell you all the bits and pieces later) and we had photographer/graphic designer extraordinaire Jenny Ung take a couple behind-the-scenes pics of our lovely model Emma. She is demure, sassy and sweet all at the same time!

You can find more of Jenny’s work both on her website and flickr!
Enjoy!

(Affordable) New Shipments! Yayyyy

2010 January 5
by buydefinition

Hi guys!

Great news here at BD. I just got in two big boxes of shipments in from some of my favorite brands – Mink Pink and BB Dakota. We have a catalog shoot planned for later this week so everything will be on the site soon but check the pics out below for first dibs on some of your favorite pieces. You can always call us and order that way if you like them!

I couldn’t post everything but here are a couple of my faves…

Hunt down that man in this one! ;)

This is really a horrible pictures of this dress (sorry!) but it’s a heart-shaped neckline strapless dress with this wonderful shimmery silver fabric. It would be great for a date night out paired with some opaque tights, leather jacket and cute pumps or boots. The price is just right too at $94.00. Amazing, right??

This skirt might actually be my favorite one in the whole shipment… I’m loving the vintage appeal to this skirt with its multitude of colors! The bow tie front is so cute! And at $37… you gotta be kidding me!

I know some of you may have not found the perfect coat yet that would transition perfectly into the spring… I think I may have found one for you! My favorite part about this trench is the funnel neck detail. It keeps the wind out while keeping you cozy… love the look. And $66, a steal.

This bright full floral skirt would be perfect with a monochromatic turtleneck or sweater. Isn’t it gorgeous? Only $44, come get it!!

Okay, that’s all for now folks! Come see me at the store, say hi and check out all the new goods!

Keep warm!

New Markdowns! Celebrate 2010

2010 January 2

Hey guys!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and much has been going on in the BD offices since! A new year has come (woo hoo 2010!) and we have some exciting news, including some new shipments from BB Dakota and Mink Pink that will be reaching us very soon. I personally think that it’s one of the best collections I’ve seen yet so I’ll be sharing with you as soon as I can. :)

We’ve also added some new markdowns in our sale section so if you’re in luck, that item you’ve been eyeing for awhile might be there!

We also have a couple special projects under wraps and I’m DYING to share but I’ll have to keep it on the dl until it’s ready for reveal!

Ooh, also don’t forget to check out Satomi jewelry, the necklaces are my favorite, especially this piece. There are several ways to wear it and I think it’s very special. Every single piece is handmade in the designer’s Brooklyn studio!

Once again, happy holidays to all of you and wishing you a prosperous and successful new year!

What to wear? Holiday wardrobe ideas!

2009 December 21

2009 is coming to an end, Christmas just around the corner and the New Year festivities just about to start and our wardrobe worries begin. What to wear to all the parties and events?!!

You may be looking for a new holiday dress and here are a couple of my personal favorites.

You can NEVER go wrong with a black dress (it will stay with you faithfully for years to come), especially with this amazing, unexpected side lace bustle detail. This body-con silhouette would be perfect for a New Year’s Eve party or dance party!

A hair accessory worn right can add that perfect holiday sparkle to any wardrobe. I am loving this chic clip on beret – the matte brown sequins are elegant and sophisticated! Wear with a curly pull backed style and add some glam!

We love jewelry here at BD and one of our stellar sellers at the moment are these precious gems by local designer W. Cayce. She only uses triple A grade stones, many of them with custom cuts to bring out more shine and brilliance. I am feeling these…

Call the store or email us if you want more styling suggestions or advice on holiday gifts, we are more than happy to help you.

Stay warm for the holidays and talk to you all soon!

Esti

Hot off the Press!

2009 December 16

Hey all –

I received a pleasant phone call earlier today from one of our favorite designers here at BD and wanted to share!

Heartloom has been getting some major attention lately with their warm coats, cozy cardigans and cute dresses. The Ruby Coat was featured in January 2010’s issue of Fitness Magazine and we must say, it’s adorable! We love how it’s layered with a striped long sleeve tee underneath. It’s one of our staff favorites for winter coats!

The zippers and belted tie make this coat all the more special so get yours before it’s too late!

Check it out below!

Day 8 of our 12 Deals of Christmas – JackRabbit Collection

2009 December 8

Hello beautifuls!

I first wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful response to our 12 Deals of Christmas. It was a fun project for our team here at BD and we hope you all have been enjoying it as much as we have!

I would have to say today’s deal is one of my favorites, JackRabbit handbags are all handmade with love in Los Angeles, all the zippers and closure hand dipped in 14 karat gold. The leather is so buttery soft and many of the bags come with adjustable straps to wear at different lengths! I’m especially liking the Bandit bag (we have it in purple and black) with the itty bitty studs and gold chain.

Check it out on the site! The 30% off deal is today only so don’t miss out!

I hope everyone has exciting plans for the upcoming holidays! Keep warm!

xoxo,
Esti
